The method involves detecting extended utilization absence information of a hot water distribution loop circuit (8) of a domestic hot water distributing installation (1), and transmitting control order to units of the installation. The circuit is short-circuited with respect to a hot water generator (5) i.e. hot water flask, of the installation when the order is received. Water temperature in the short-circuited circuit is reduced below a threshold temperature at which bacteria is not developed, when the order is received, where the threshold temperature is equal to 20 degree Celsius. An independent claim is also included for an installation for distributing domestic hot water, comprising a cold water supply circuit.
