The system has a diagnosing unit (MD) placed in a motor vehicle e.g. car (V), for providing information representative of type of malfunction. A collection unit (MC) i.e. communicating terminal, is placed in a selected location e.g. public parking, remote from the vehicle. The collection unit delivers a message e.g. audio message, to a management equipment (CG) for warning a person designated for the motor vehicle, when the message contains the information associated to an identifier of the vehicle. A communication unit (MN) transmits the message to the collection unit through a wave channel. An independent claim is also included for a method for detecting malfunction in a motor vehicle.
