The device (1) has a filter element (3) inserted into a filter housing (2). A covering part (6) comprises a covering plate (7) attached on a front side of the filter element. The covering part comprises a flow pipe (8) and a support pipe (9), which encompasses the flow pipe. An end plate (16) closes a front side of the device. A fluid area (13) is formed for fluid in the covering part. The fluid area is limited by a side of the covering plate that is axially turned away from the filter element and a side of the support pipe that is radially turned away from the flow pipe.
