Component's e.g. exhaust manifold, temperature estimating method for motor vehicle, involves estimating local temperature of air at level of component, and solving differential equation relative to temperature of component
The method involves estimating internal surface (S-G) and heat-transfer coefficient of a component e.g. exhaust manifold (10), with exhaust gas of a heat engine. External surface (S-SSC) and heat-transfer coefficient of the component with air circulating under a bonnet are estimated. Local temperature (Tair) of the air at a level of the component is estimated. Differential equation relative to temperature (T-M) of the component is solved, where the equation comprises parameters such as thermal inertia and mass of the component, and heat specific to the temperature of material of the component.
