The method involves acquiring measurement of two distances of a stationary non-interactive object with respect to two separate positions of a geo-locating system (100) to two position-object distance pairs, where the positions and distances are respectively obtained by a position acquisition unit (1) i.e. receiver, and a distance acquisition unit (2) i.e. telemeter . A third position-object distance pair is acquired, and geo-location of the object is calculated from the position-object distance pairs. An independent claim is also included for a system for geo-locating a stationary non-interactive artificial object and use on a mobile platform, comprising a telemeter.
