Automatic classification method for e.g. image sequences to create film chapters, involves acquiring temporal neuron card corresponding to image category, from local signatures and salience degrees of images

The method involves acquiring a temporal neuron card e.g. Kohonen Temporal Map card, corresponding to an image category, from local signatures and salience degrees of images. Predetermined number of the signatures and the degrees are presented at an input of the card by the descending salience degree during acquiring of the card. The local signatures and the salience degrees are safeguarded in a database by the descending salience degree for the same degree of salience. The card is acquired by determining an activation histogram integrating the salience degrees of the images. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for automatically classifying image sequences (2) a computer program comprising instructions to perform a method for automatically classifying image sequences.
