The machine has a cutting unit (3) cutting roots of vegetable plants to be harvested, and an elevation unit (4) raising a mulching film. The cutting unit and the elevation unit are installed in a front zone of a frame (1). The mulching film is driven by a traction unit (5) along a movement from front to rear to transport cut vegetable plants towards a return conveyor (6) installed in rear. A cutting action of roots of the vegetable plants is performed above or at a ground level below the mulching film after the mulching film is raised from the ground by the elevation unit.
