Treating raw effluent obtained from e.g. urban wastewater, comprises subjecting effluent to two steps of treatment carried out by activated sludge and/or filtration membranes, and transferring heat between raw effluent and treated effluent
The process comprises subjecting effluent to two steps of treatment carried out by activated sludge (1) and/or filtration membranes (2), and transferring heat between the raw effluent and the treated effluent. When the raw effluent has a temperature less than desired temperature for treatment, heat is removed from the treated effluent using a cold source and a heat pump and then used to heat to raw effluent before submitting it to the treatment. A heat exchanger is connected between a closed loop of liquid and an upstream end of raw effluent treatment stage. The process comprises subjecting the effluent to two steps of treatment carried out by activated sludge (1) and/or filtration membranes (2), and transferring heat between the raw effluent and treated effluent. When the raw effluent has a temperature less than the desired temperature for treatment with activated sludge and/or filtration membrane, heat is removed from the treated effluent using a cold source and a heat pump and then used to heat to raw effluent before submitting it to the treatment. A heat exchanger is connected between a closed loop of liquid heated by a pump and an upstream end of raw effluent treatment stage. A reversible heat is produced to extract heat from the raw effluent and to transfer it to the treated effluent. An independent claim is included for an installation for treatment of a raw effluent obtained from urban wastewater, industrial wastewater or potable water.
