The process involves measuring a parameter representative of a composition of soot accumulated in a particle filter (5), where the measuring process includes determination of a calorific value of fuel to be injected. A fuel injection parameter i.e. temperature set point of a temperature control loop of the particle filter, in an exhaust line (1) is defined in an upstream of the particle filter according to a measured parameter. The particle filter is regenerated by injecting the fuel into the exhaust line based on a defined injection parameter. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an injection Control device for regeneration of a particle filter of an internal combustion engine (2) a motor vehicle comprising a system for regeneration of a particle filter.
