PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact module for membrane distillation by providing a porous membrane for membrane distillation which is excellent in a water production function and which provides a sufficient amount of produced water, and to provide a membrane distillation type water production system sufficiently usable even in a region where infrastructure is yet undeveloped by using the module for membrane distillation.;SOLUTION: As a porous membrane 1 for membrane distillation, a porous membrane having higher hydrophobicity on the surface 1a side and lower hydrophobicity on the surface 1b side is used, so that raw water flows in the direction shown by the arrow in the raw water channel while being heated to a prescribed temperature and the amount of raw water to be absorbed in the porous membrane 1 for membrane distillation is increased (the flow rate is improved) from the raw water brought into contact with the surface 1a on the raw water side of the porous membrane 1 for membrane distillation and more water vapor is generated. The water vapor passing the porous membrane 1 for membrane distillation is evaporated to the distilled water channel swiftly from the surface 1b and accordingly, the amount of water production per unit surface area can be increased.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
