PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound processing apparatus capable of preventing operation of frequency characteristics on a received sound signal from causing quality deterioration as a result.;SOLUTION: A sound signal of which the frequency characteristics have been operated at a transmitting side may come to a sound processing apparatus or a sound signal of which the frequency characteristics have not been operated may come thereto. Then, reference characteristic information reflected with average frequency characteristics of a sound signal of which the frequency characteristics are not operated at the transmitting side is held beforehand, and after characteristic information of a similar representation form to that of the reference characteristic information is obtained for a received sound signal, the reference characteristic information is compared with the characteristic information of the received sound signal to determine whether or not the frequency characteristics are operated at the transmitting side.
