PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely perform flattening of steel while suppressing end waves, with respect to the steel after straightening.;SOLUTION: When straightening the steel 3 by using a roller leveler 1, the steel is straightened after constructing a discriminant wherein rolling reduction IM for straightening, a sheet width W, the effective deflection amount δin the direction of body length and the maximum straightening reaction force P are used as variables and controlling the rolling reduction for straightening of a roller leveler 1 so that the value of this discriminant satisfies predetermined conditions.
