PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for a thermal barrier coating, having excellent high temperature crystal stability and high toughness, to provide a thermal barrier coating having a ceramic layer formed by using the material for the thermal barrier coating, and to provide a turbine member and a gas turbine having the thermal barrier coating.;SOLUTION: A thermal spray powder for the thermal barrier coating is represented by composition formula (1):Sm_xYb_yZr_(1-x-y)O_((4-x-y)/2) (wherein 0x0.05, 0.06y0.11) or composition formula (2):Sm_xY_yZr_(1-x-y)O_((4-x-y)/2) (wherein 0x0.05, 0.04y0.09).
