PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for predicting the effect of combined therapy by interferon and ribavirin without requiring complicated operation, especially the method for predicting the effect of the combined therapy by the interferon and the ribavirin without actually administering them. PSOLUTION: The method for predicting the effect of the combined therapy of the interferon and the ribavirin against chronic type C hepatitis includes a step for measuring the expression level of a biological material in a cell of a carrier of a type C hepatitis virus before administering the interferon and the ribavirin to the carrier of the type C hepatitis virus, wherein the biological material is at least one selected from the group consisting of MX1, IFIT1, ISG15 and IFI27.
