PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seafloor hydrothermal deposit searching/measuring device that measures the location of a black smoker or a white smoker on the seafloor.SOLUTION: A transmitter 13 supplies a transmission signal to a transducer 11 and a signal received by the transducer 11 is supplied to a receptor 14. The transducer 11 is formed of a porous PZT piezoelectric oscillator having a porosity of 10%. The receptor 14 is provided with a heterodyne detector for obtaining a different frequency between a transmission signal and a reception signal. An element denoted by symbol 15 is a bandpass filter. An element denoted by a symbol 17 is a digital signal processor (DSP) which performs correlation processing and arithmetic processing of an FET. An element denoted by a symbol 18 is a display control section which converts data of a smoker obtained by the DSP 17 into a video signal suitable for a monitor 19. An element denoted by a symbol 21 is an antenna for receiving radio waves. An element denoted by a symbol 20 is a signal processing circuit which locates a position of a survey ship 1, based on a GPS signal.
