PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an irreversible temperature indicator using a layer made of melting composition such as wax, where the color tone change after use is made clear and the convenience is improved by applying a porous layer having a high lower-layer masking property during non-use and high permeation transmission properties during wax dissolving, and to provide an irreversible temperature indicator set having a writing instrument allowing writing on the porous layer and allowing holding of a written character for a long time.;SOLUTION: In this irreversible temperature indicator, the porous layer 4 that is opaque in a liquid non-absorption state where a low refractive index pigment is fixed to a binder resin in a dispersed state and is made transparent in a liquid absorption state is disposed on a colored support 2, and a wax layer 5 dissolving at a specific temperature is disposed on the porous layer 4. Further, a transparent sheet 6 is disposed on the uppermost surface.
