PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a color filter, wherein the production cost is reduced while controlling the thickness of a liquid crystal layer by providing columnar spacers and projections and achieving improvement in display quality of a liquid crystal display device, and to provide a method for producing a color filter-on-array, a color filter, a color filter-on-array, and a liquid crystal display device.;SOLUTION: The method for producing the color filter includes: a first step of forming a color filter layer 6 on a transparent substrate 2, the color filter layer comprising a plurality of color filter parts 3, 4, 5, which transmit light of different colors from one another; a second step of forming a transparent electrode layer 7 on an upper face of the color filter layer 6; and a third step of forming, on the transparent electrode layer 7, a plurality of columnar spacers 8 for retaining a gap in the space where a liquid crystal is to be sealed and a plurality of projections 9 for controlling alignment of liquid crystal molecules. In the third step, the columnar spacers 8 are formed above boundaries between the color filter parts 3, 4, 5, and the columnar spacers 8 and projections 9 are formed of the same film 10 having light-shielding property.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
