PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proton conductive electrolyte membrane that can reduce methanol crossover even in power generation using high-concentration methanol, keep resistance low even in a passive type DMFC, control a temperature raising cycle at a low temperature (usually 25-50C) within an operating temperature range, maintain stable power generation and use up the fuel; and to provide a membrane-electrode assembly and a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. PSOLUTION: A proton conductive material comprises a metal-oxygen bond, an acid group and a hydrophobic crosslinking structure, wherein the crosslinking structure constitutes a continuum of particles and contains a hydrophobic crosslinking structure in a gap between the particles to form a proton passage.
