PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable selective exciting of predetermined molecular species, even among two or more kinds of molecules having slight mass differences.;SOLUTION: Individual rotation energy levels (rotational levels) can be represented with the exciting energy as the horizontal axis. Consider a case where a molecule X is irradiated with an electromagnetic wave of a comb-shaped spectrum which synchronizes with exciting energies corresponding to rotational levels of a molecule X, as illustrated as an oblique line portion in Fig.2, and has two or more narrow bands shown as P1 to P14. Application of the electromagnetic wave of the comb-shaped spectrum allows transition of the molecule X sequentially to higher energy levels. The energy levels of a molecule Y, on the other hand, do not synchronize with the comb-shaped spectrum. Gates of the molecule Y comprise an area of Y4 to Y7 and an area of Y12 to Y15. In the molecule Y, transitions between rotational levels on opposite sides of the gates are forbidden, and e.g. the transition from Y1 to Y15 is thus impossible too.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
