PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect again an optical fiber which has once disconnected, with another optical fiber without increasing splice loss.;SOLUTION: A semisolid refractive index matching agent 30 is attached to the center part including a core part 27A, of the end face 26B of the optical fiber 26 built in the fiber fixing part of an optical connector. The refractive index matching agent 30 is formed in a block shape in which two cut-in parts 32 are formed substantially parallel to the end face 26B of the optical fiber 26. When the end face 40C of the optical fiber 40 is once connected to the end face 26B of the optical fiber 26 via the refractive index matching agent 30 and then the connection of the end face 40C of the optical fiber 40 is released, the refractive index matching agent 30 is cut off at one of the cut-in parts 32 and the cut surface of the refractive index matching agent 30 appears on the end face 26B of the optical fiber 26. Thus, attachment of dust or the like on the refractive index matching agent 30 is prevented, and an increase in the splice loss is suppressed when the end face 40C of the optical fiber 40 is connected again.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
