PPROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for measuring shaft vibration reliably and inexpensively on an apparatus intermittently working with relatively short operating time. PSOLUTION: An ultrasonic type vibration measuring system is equipped with: a plurality of ultrasonic sensors 2 severally installed on a plurality of intermittent operation apparatuses existing relatively near to each other; and a data measuring instrument 20 comprising an ultrasonic transmitter-receiver 4 outputting therefrom a signal for transmitting an ultrasonic wave to the ultrasonic sensors or inputting thereinto, as signals, ultrasonic waves received by the ultrasonic sensors, a signal processor 5 for receiving a signal from the transmitter-receiver and performing signal processing to form a vibration waveform, and a storage device for temporarily storing therein the vibration waveform formed by the signal processor. This measuring system is equipped with a switch 3 for selectively connecting one of the ultrasonic sensors to the transmitter-receiver. This switch is characterized by connecting the transmitter-receiver and the ultrasonic sensor installed in an intermittent operation apparatus with a starting signal sent thereto based on the generation of the starting signal for the operation apparatus.
