PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pile pressing-in method and a pile pressing-in and pulling-out machine capable of pressing in and pulling out a steel sheet pile without increasing the weight of an auger casing and reducing blocking of the steel sheet pile caused by sediment to attain efficient construction.;SOLUTION: The pile pressing-in and pulling-out machine presses the steel sheet pile 17 into the ground and pulls it out of the ground by using a pile pulling-in and pulling-out cylinder 10 jointly with excavation by the auger 16. In the pile pressing-in method and the pile pressing-in and pulling-out machine used as basic means, a long and large fixed plate 13 radially extending with a predetermined thickness and extending in a vertical direction is stuck to the facing outer peripheral part of an auger casing 12 inserted in the pile grip device 11, and a center part 17a formed in a recessed form of the steel sheet pile 17 is disposed close to the outer peripheral part of the auger casing 12, while a joint part 17b of the steel sheet pile 17 is disposed in a position to abut on the fixed plate 13.
