The present invention provides a method to enhance the production of extracellular alkaline protease from bacterium Bacillus cereus using the aqueous two phase system. The enzyme is very active at high temperature and pH range and has high compatibility with commercial laundry detergents. The enzyme has an important industrial application as it showed better stability and activity in detergent formulations in comparison to endogenous proteases of Surf excel, Ariel and Henko stain champion.
