METHOD FOR CLINICAL AND LABORATORY DIAGNOSTICS OF ACTIVE FORM OF CYTOMEGALOVIRUS INFECTION IN HIV-INFECTED PATIENTS

A method for the clinical and laboratory diagnostics of the active form of cytomegalovirus infection in HIV-infected patients comprises two steps. First, the patients with probable active cytomegalovirus infection as well the patients at high risk of its activation (women at the stage of pregravidic management, pregnant women, and their newborns) are selected according to the clinical symptoms or the findings of serological assays. At the next step, the confirmatory complex analysis is carried out (cytoscopy of saliva, urine, vaginal biosubstrate for cytomegalic cells, polymerase chain reaction for detection of cytomegalovirus DNA in blood samples).
