The present invention concerns a method for determining, in a wireless cellular telecommunication network, if a base station can not handle a half-duplex terminal, the base station transferring signals in a cell of the base station, the half-duplex terminal, when being handled by the base station, not transferring and not receiving signals during a period of time, called idle period of the cell of the base station. The base station: - transfers signals in the cell of the base station, - receives a signal transferred by the half-duplex terminal in response to a signal transferred by the base station, - determines from the received signal, a characteristic of the half-duplex terminal in the cell, - determines that the base station can not handle the half-duplex terminal if the characteristic of the half-duplex terminal in the cell is not compatible with the idle period.
