An apparatus and method for delivering targeted informational messagesincludes a computer system for creating a de-identified encrypted PID and de-identified patient transaction data in a retail store for transmission andstorage. A subset of de-identified encrypted PIDs are associated with targetedinformational messages by the system and transmitted to retail stores, where atargeted message is printed on behalf of the patient corresponding to the de-identified encrypted PID.
