Disclosed is a method for achieving the screening for a compound having a latex tube formation-enhancing activity more rapidly and in a simpler manner. Specifically disclosed are: a marker gene for the formation of latex tubes in Hevea brasiliensis, of which the expression can be induced by the stimulation with jasmonic acid, and which is characterized in that mRNA for the gene can hybridize with a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence represented by any one of SEQ ID NO:1 to SEQ ID NO:11 under stringent conditions; and a method for screening for a latex tube formation enhancer, which is characterized by comprising a treatment step of stimulating a plant with a test compound using, as a marker gene for the formation of latex tubes, a gene of which the expression can be induced by the stimulation with jasmonic acid and a measurement step of measuring the change in expression level of the marker gene in the plant before and after the treatment step.
