OPTICAL LINE MONITORING APPARATUS IN A PON CAPABLE OF QUICK RESTORATION MEASURES OF A FIELD STAFF

PURPOSE: An optical line monitoring apparatus and method in a PON are provided to grasp the accurate failure location of an optical fiber line regardless of the branch distance of ONTs. ;CONSTITUTION: A status information extracting unit(101) extracts the status information of ONTs(Optical Network Terminals)(109). A network management unit(102) extracts the MAC(Medium Access Control) address of the ONT with the extracted status information. A controller(103) creates the failure point measurement command of an optical line connected to an ONT in which a failure occurs. According to the measurement command of the controller, a distance measuring unit(104) makes generated monitoring light received to the downlink optical line port of an OLT(Optical Line Terminal)(105).
