PURPOSE: A bit mapping method for 4+12+16 APSK modulation scheme having excellent bit error performance is provided to improve bit error performance by bit mapping so that hamming distance between signal points closing with each other due to nonlinear property of HPA is minimized. ;CONSTITUTION: The 32 symbols of 4+12+16 APSK modulation scheme are marked as polar coordinates. The polar coordinates are listed according to the size of &thgr;. 32 symbols are divided into 4 regions by grouping the symbols in the same quadrant.
