PURPOSE: An apparatus for deciding a focusing position using an entropy of an image is provided to exactly perform focusing operation even an object is not placed at the center area or high frequency component is included in the surroundings. CONSTITUTION: An image segmentation unit(110) divides an original image into a plurality of unit areas and a plurality of partial areas. An entropy computing unit(120) produces the entropy value about each unit area. A focus area determining unit(130) decides the focus area based on the calculated entropy value.
