The prosthesis has a connection unit for rigidly connecting an artificial tooth (3) to a natural abutment tooth (1) in a mouth. The connection unit includes a retention bar (4) serving as a periodontal splint on which the artificial tooth is fixed. Relative position of the artificial tooth with respect to the splint is chosen such that a free portion of the splint occupies an intratooth position in the abutment tooth. A recess is provided in the abutment tooth, when the prosthesis is subsequently placed in the recess forming an occlusal-proximal cavity (6).
