The device has a housing for accommodating a loudspeaker, microphone and components for controlling electric and/or electromechanical components e.g. door closures. A front side (40) of the housing has a sound outputting area (60) for outputting sound produced by the loudspeaker and a sound inputting area (61) for inputting the sound to the microphone. The front side has push buttons (62-65) clamped in a pushbutton area, and the sound outputting area lies inside the pushbutton area such that the pushbutton area and the sound outputting area are maximized with a preset limited dimension. An independent claim is also included for a device set comprising a communication device and a housing with electric switches and/or plug connectors.
