The separator (100) has an air separation chamber (1) comprising an inlet channel (9) for supplying fluid into the chamber and an outlet channel (25) for discharging the fluid from the chamber. Two chambers (3, 5) comprise respective cross-sections (QK1, QK2), and a connection opening (7) is arranged between the chambers, where the fluid from one of the chambers flows into another chamber through the opening. A valve device is arranged in an upper area of the former chamber for ventilating the separation chamber.
