The melt tub comprises a cooling element (KE), which influences the flow of glass melt (GS) in the melt tub, a corrosion-sensitive element (PS) stepping in contact with the glass melt, a cooling element arranged in a surrounding area of the elements, where one of the elements corresponds to a parapet, where the cooling element is arranged in the surrounding area of the wall in an interval of 1-2 meters from middle point of the wall, or to a palisade, where the cooling element is arranged in the surrounding area of the palisade. The melt tub comprises a cooling element (KE), which influences the flow of glass melt (GS) in the melt tub, a corrosion-sensitive element (PS) stepping in contact with the glass melt, a cooling element arranged in a surrounding area of the elements, where one of the elements corresponds to a parapet, where the cooling element is arranged in the surrounding area of the wall in an interval of 1-2 meters from middle point of the wall, or to a palisade, where the cooling element is arranged in the surrounding area of the palisade. The cooling element is arranged in an interval of 150-350 to the edge of the palisade, is formed as a cooling element flowed through by a coolant and has an inlet and an outlet for the coolant. The cooling element is formed as a cool rod projecting in the glass melt. The cool rod has an overall length of 950 mm with which the cool rod projects into the glass melt. The overall length of the cool rod is depend upon the filling height of the glass melt in the melt tub, and an interval between the surface of the glass melt and the top end of the cool rod. The cool rods are arranged to each other in an interval of 300-400 mm in the melt tub. An independent claim is included for a melt furnace with a melt tub.
