The method involves recovering the stator frequency (f-12) of the propelling engine (2), and examining the stator frequency and the determined rotor frequency (f-r) for plausibility. The switching signal (S-F1,S-F2) is generated as soon as the plausibility is not fulfilled. An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring of a determined number of revolutions of an engine.
