The method involves advancing individual plants to a stop in a cutting chamber, guiding the plants along the stop by a movable cutter (20) and supplying and cutting the plants at another cutter, during feeding of garden sheers in a plantation. A cut material in the cutting chamber is pushed on by impinging the former cutter on the material, where the material impinges on the latter cutter at speed of the former cutter. The former cutter is pressed in a region of a cutting plate (30) by a press pad (38). An independent claim is also included for a garden sheer for cutting a cut material.
