The method involves testing fittings of a motor vehicle and observation of maintenance intervals, and reading fuel relevant driving-and operating data of the motor vehicle. Functionality of the motor vehicle is tested based on predetermined testing procedures, and an additional equipment of the motor vehicle or an invalid maintenance data of the motor vehicle is detected. The fuel relevant driving-and operating data of the motor vehicle is processed under variation of fuel consumption in the motor vehicle.
