The method involves optically measuring volume of an object i.e. unvulcanized tire (1), by determining an outer contour and/or an inner contour of the object, and determining imbalance of the object. The volume of the object is changed corresponding to the imbalance of the object. A specific volume corresponding to parts of the object is added and/or removed. The unvulcanized tire in a tire model is positioned such that the imbalance of the object is balanced by asymmetry of the tire model and/or pressure bladder in interior of the tire.
