The system has an electrically actuated blocking device with a limit switch (10) positioned at a connection pipe of a flooding device (3). The blocking device is closed in a passive condition. A pipe system (2) is provided in a depressurized manner. Inert gas is stored in a pressure cylinder and stays in preset quantity under pressure of 200-300 bars. The inert gas is supplied via a pressure-reducing unit (4) with downstream devices for inert gas quantities and via the pipe system to the flooding device from a storage system (6). An independent claim is also included for a method for providing a fire extinguishing system.
