The ceiling comprises a fastening element (3) and a shaped substructure (4). The shaped substructure is arranged at a space cover with an aid of the fastening element. The shaped substructure is a meshwork (5), which is loaded with a hardened foam (6) that is provided with a surface layer (7). The hardened foam is made of single component polyurethane-foam, particularly an expanded polystyrene. An independent claim is also included for a method for building a ceiling for an artificial grotto, particularly a salt grotto.
