The system has a reservation center (17) connected with a central computer (7). An entry barrier (2) of an entry station (1) is opened during entry of a motor vehicle with parking space reservation and after output of a parking ticket or reading of a customer card e.g. credit card, and reservation dates are displayed on a display (14) of the station and on a display (12) of a reserved parking space (P) based on recognized motor vehicle characteristics, while an exit barrier (6) is opened. The dates are automatically cancelled on the display of the space based on the characteristics.
