The arrangement for the production of a glass melt and/or glass ceramic melt, comprises a crucible (10) for the reception of a melt that is formed at its internal side section-wisely with a cladding having iridium, which represents a melt contact surface, a housing (11, 12) for the crucible for applying an atmosphere (20) of protection gas for the crucible and/or the melt, a heating device for the melt so that the melt is heated in the crucible at greater than 1800[deg] C, and a system for controlling partial pressure of oxygen in the melt. The arrangement for the production of a glass melt and/or glass ceramic melt, comprises a crucible (10) for the reception of a melt that is formed at its internal side section-wisely with a cladding having iridium, which represents a melt contact surface, a housing (11, 12) for the crucible for applying an atmosphere (20) of protection gas for the crucible and/or the melt, a heating device for the melt so that the melt is heated in the crucible at greater than 1800[deg] C, and a system for controlling partial pressure of oxygen in the melt. The system comprises an arrangement for providing a reactive gas having hydrogen related to the melt, a means for measuring a temperature controlled in the melt and in the atmosphere, a sensor (30) for the detection of partial pressure of oxygen present in the atmosphere, and means for the detection of the conductivity of the melt. The system comprises means for the determination of partial pressure of oxygen in the melt from the measured temperature in the melt and in the atmosphere and from the partial pressure of oxygen determined in the atmosphere, and means for adapting the concentration of the reactive hydrogen, and/or a duration in which the melt is added to the hydrogen. The arrangement for providing the reactive gas has a first gas supply (41a) flowing in the housing so that the reactive gas is a component of the protective gas in the atmosphere, and a second gas supply formed as tube immersed in the melt. The sensor for the determination of the partial pressure of oxygen is positioned in an area of the housing in which the temperature of the atmosphere lies under the temperature of the melt, and is a lambda sensor with a measuring electrode from platinum, and with a reference electrode from zirconium dioxide. The means for measuring the temperature is formed as a tungsten-rhenium-thermo-element and is arranged in a thermally and if necessary chemically stabilized sleeve made of iridium. The means for measuring the temperature comprises a first thermometer for measuring the temperature in the atmosphere and a second thermometer for measuring the temperature in the melt. Independent claims are included for: (1) a method for the treatment of a melt for the production of glass and/or glass ceramics; and (2) a glass or glass ceramic.
