The sensor (10) has a three-axle magnetic sensor (11) supplying data of magnetic field. A processor (13) for data processing stays in signal communication with the processor, and an interface (14) stays in signal communication with the processor for outputting compensated magnetic data. A biaxial angle transmitter (12) stays in signal communication with the processor, and another interface (15) stays in signal communication with the processor, where horizontal components of the field determined by the processor under usage of the data of the transmitter are retrieved at the latter interface. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring horizontal components of magnetic field.
