The method involves arranging plates relative to each other in a flat parallel manner in a joining process. The plates are joined with one another, where one of the plates forms a cathode side and the other plate forms an anode side of a bipolar plate (2). The bipolar plate is formed gradually from the plates. An actual pattern (MIst) is produced from lines by projection on intermediate products (ZP1 to ZPn). The actual pattern is recorded by a camera (1.2) e.g. charge coupled device camera, and compared with a reference pattern (MRef).
