The method involves distributing the controlling responsibility as function of the driving conditions between the driver and driver assistance system. The controlling responsibility is displayed for the automated driving process or the changes of the driver by different colored markings. The different colored markings take place by a colored marking of the control instruments of the driver assistance system or by a colored marking of the surface in inner chamber of the motor vehicle. The surface lies in visible area of the driver. An independent claim is also included for a driver assistance system for executing the controlling responsibility identifying method.
