The method involves collimating polyenergetic primary radiation (2) that is generated by an X-ray source (1). The radiation is monochromotized by a monochromator (4), and is directed using an X-ray capillary lens (3). A sample (6) is irradiated in a selective geometric direction using the monochromotized beams. Concentration courses over entire sample height are calculated under utilization of particle size-independent attenuation coefficients of continuous and dispersive phases. A material parameter is calculated using a software under consideration of forces causing concentration change. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining temporal and local changes of volume- and/or packing concentration of a substance in samples.
