The method involves dividing a closed storage system (11) into two pressure areas. An inert gas supply station with a pipe system (3), bottle valves (4) and high pressure safety devices having a chamber valve (10) is attached to one of the areas, and an inert gas pipe system (14) and a chamber valve (15) of low pressure safety devices are formed in the other area. An interface is defined between the areas by the high pressure chamber valve, and the low pressure chamber valve is positioned in a pipe connection of the storage system downstream to the high pressure chamber valve.
