The method involves perforating a data carrier material tape by a punching device such that a data tape (10) is folded in fan-shape along a data carrier (20) forming perforation lines (40-42) with bars (30-32). The material tape is perforated such that the bars of the lines do not lie immediately one above the other when the data tape is folded in the fan-shape. The bars are arranged in different sequences and arrangements to form perforation patterns (A-C). The material tape is made of multilayer material that comprises a thermally activatable layer, a fiber layer and a paper layer. An independent claim is also included for a device for manufacturing isolatable, card-shaped data carrier.
