The roof has a material cover (8) secured in a lateral manner to a longitudinal beam (9) and pivoted to a longitudinal end (10) of a pivot bearing (15) around a vertical axis (Z). A rail (12) at which another longitudinal end (11) of the longitudinal beam is movable in transverse direction (Y), where the rail comprises two arcuate rail sections. The pivot bearing is arranged and fixed to a roof opening (6) enclosing a roof frame (17). The pivot bearing is firmly arranged in a central longitudinal axis (18) of the roof opening fixed on the roof frame. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle comprising a roof opening arranged between a windscreen and a rear window.
