The method involves determining and outputting a value for momentary power consumption, where the value corresponds to average consumption of a preset time interval, which depends on a determined timing of a heat source. An indicated value is averaged over a cycle of the timing of the heat source, where the indicated value corresponds to the average consumption of last thirty seconds. The determined value is stored in a memory device. Estimated total energy consumption for different operational parameters is taken place under consideration of the stored value. An independent claim is also included for a device for displaying momentary energy consumption of a household apparatus.
